Hadrian's Union appearing on Saturday 19th January 2013

Doors at 7:30 PM

£5 entry on the door

Including new plug and play feature! If you are a performer you can secure a 15 minute slot as support for Hadrian’s Union. You will receive a £1 reduction on the door.

Hadrian’s Union are

Stew Simpson 33, born Newcastle upon Tyne, Vocal and guitars
Danny Hart 21, born Carlisle Cumbria, Violin.
Featuring Mike France on fretless bass.

Hadrian’s Union are an English Contemporary Folk Duo with support on all albums and some live shows from six string fretless bass player Mike France.

Stew and Danny met in 2008 at the Carlisle Folk and Blues Club, Stew was a punk rocker dabbling in acoustic music while Danny was a fulltime Bluegrasser. A pairing of these musical styles seemed terribly unlikely, the messy world of Alternative Rock and the tidy and sharp dressed world of Bluegrass seemed polls apart. But this difference is what brought Hadrian's Union together to make there unique blend of thought provoking lyrics with sharp acoustic passionate musicianship.

The combination of meaningful lyrics and heartfelt playing have been compared to ‘Show of Hands’ and ‘Jez Lowe and the bad pennies’.

In two years Hadrian's Union have written and recorded two albums, performed at folk clubs and festivals all over the UK, finished a degree course (Danny), appeared in the background of several feature films (Stew) and built a house in France (Mike).
Festivals include Music on the Marr (Cumbria), Ireby Music Festival (Cumbria), Devauden Music Festival (Wales), Rochester Sweeps Festival (Kent), Broadstairs Folk Week, Support slots have included Tom McConville, Roy Bailey and Chris Wood.

Hadrian's Union have brought out a new album which has received plaudits across the board. Entitled: 'In your own time', it contains some of their best work yet. The album will be available for purchase on the night.

Heidi Schaffrath and Sugar Rush plus special guest Craig Bell play the pavilion on Saturday February 25th

Heidi Scaffrath and Tony Atkinson have played together before as Heidi and the Soul Merchants, an eight piece band that played Stax and Motown, but this year, after a chance meeting, they decided to get together and try a more intimate style that allows her voice to be heard more clearly.

Sugar Rush have adapted some of the soul classics by Eddie Floyd, Sam & Dave and Otis Reading to a smaller format and mixed in songs by Dylan, Tracey Chapman, Fleetwood Mac, Eva Cassidy, Janis Joplin, Candi Staton and others to provide you with a great night of music. You can hear more of their music at http://www.heidiandtony.co.uk/music.php

Tickets are available from the usual outlets (from Feb 11th) - Brampton Post Office, Pavilion bar on a friday night or phone/text Tom on 07986106088. It helps us greatly if you can buy in advance - it also saves you £1!
